1. Invest in Getting the Gas Pipes Insulated
The best thing that you can do for your gas pipes is to protect them from outside elements. You must make sure the pipes are thoroughly insulated. For instance, during cold days, you don't want to end up with the pipes becoming frozen. You can invest in insulation that is designed for keeping industrial pipes warm when it is cold outside. Basically, the insulation will be wrapped around the pipes, and there are different types available for you to choose between.
2. Hire a Professional to Occasionally Inspect the Pipes
A good way to keep your gas pipes in good shape is to get them inspected every now and then. You must make sure repairs are made when they are needed. Waiting too long to make repairs to damaged gas pipes will put them at a higher risk for bursting open under certain conditions. A contractor can inspect the pipes for rust and holes a few times per year. You will then be able to get holes sealed up before they pose a problem, but rusty pipes should be replaced as soon as possible.
3. Purchase Triethylene Glycol for the Gas
One of the wisest things that you can invest in for your gas plant is Triethylene Glycol (TEG). Using TEG inside of your gas as it flows through the pipelines is a great way to prevent it from freezing up when the weather is freezing. Basically, TEG has a hygroscopic quality that makes it a great fluid for natural gas. TEG will simply remove the water that is contained inside of the gas, which makes it more difficult for pipes to freeze during cold temperatures. Invest in TEG for your plant as soon as you are ready to start using it inside of your gas pipes.
